BingX EU has obtained a Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCAR) license from Austria’s Financial Market Authority, clearing the platform to operate across 29 European Economic Area countries under unified regulatory oversight. The authorization signals institutional-grade compliance infrastructure entering mainstream European crypto trading and custody.

  • BingX EU licensed as Crypto-Asset Service Provider under MiCAR, enabling services across 29 EEA countries
  • Platform will offer custody, exchange, and crypto broker services under Austria’s regulatory framework
  • MiCAR passporting arrangements allow single-license operation across European Economic Area without country-by-country approval
  • 29 European Economic Area countries where BingX EU can now operate crypto services
  • 40 million users served globally by BingX across its multi-asset trading platform
  • 2026 year BingX became Official Team Partner of Scuderia Ferrari HP

BingX EU, a Vienna-based subsidiary of global trading platform BingX, has obtained a Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation license from Austria’s Financial Market Authority, according to reporting by BeInCrypto. The authorization permits the exchange to operate as a Crypto-Asset Service Provider across 29 countries in the European Economic Area, a jurisdiction that includes EU member states plus Iceland, Liechtenstein, and Norway. The passporting mechanism built into MiCAR allows BingX to serve users across those territories under a single Austrian license rather than pursuing separate approvals in each nation.

BingX EU launches custody and exchange under unified European framework

The MiCAR license positions BingX to offer regulated custody, exchange, and broker services under transparent operational standards designed to protect investor assets and ensure market integrity.

Daniel Lai, Chief Executive Officer of BingX EU, stated the platform’s intent to deliver “trusted and locally regulated trading experience” aligned with European expectations for security and accountability.

Operating under MiCAR will allow us to deliver our services under a clear regulatory framework that gives users confidence while supporting the long-term development of Europe’s digital ecosystem. It also enables us to combine innovation with the high standards of security, transparency and accountability that European users and institutions expect.

For institutional investors seeking European exposure to digital assets, MiCAR-regulated platforms like BingX EU reduce counterparty and compliance risk compared with unregulated venues.

The authorization also signals that major trading platforms view European regulation as operationally viable rather than prohibitively expensive, a calculation that may influence other global exchanges evaluating EEA entry.

MiCAR passporting standardizes crypto services across European boundaries

The European Union’s Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation, which took full effect in December 2024, established a unified rulebook for crypto service providers across member states and EEA partners.

Under MiCAR, a platform licensed in one EEA country can “passport” its services to others without redundant licensing, a mechanism that mirrors how traditional financial services operate across the bloc.

BingX EU’s authorization confirms the passporting mechanism functions as designed, permitting a single regulatory relationship to unlock access to 29 markets simultaneously.

BingX continues European expansion with regulatory stability confirmed

BingX, founded in 2018, now operates with institutional-grade regulatory cover in Europe alongside its global multi-asset platform serving over 40 million users.

The platform signed Chelsea FC as principal partner in 2024 and became official team partner of Scuderia Ferrari HP this year, establishing visible brand presence in European markets ahead of the MiCAR authorization.

The combination of regulatory approval and sports sponsorships suggests BingX intends to compete directly with established European brokers for both retail and institutional allocations of digital assets.

The CCS read. MiCAR licenses now flowing to major platforms mean European retail money and institutional custody demand will route through regulated venues rather than offshore alternatives, reducing contagion risk to the broader financial system and likely encouraging traditional asset managers to test digital asset offerings without reputational exposure to unregulated platforms.

BingX EU plans to launch its full suite of regulated services across the EEA in coordination with Austria’s FMA, though no specific launch date has been announced. Institutional investors should monitor whether other major global exchanges pursue MiCAR licensing during 2026, as competitive pressure to obtain European authorization could reshape custody and trading flows across the region.
