Edge Wallet Integrates Bridgeless + Confidential Layer to Bring True Privacy to Bitcoin
Edge, the self-custody crypto wallet built for privacy and usability, today announced the integration of Bridgeless, the Layer-1 blockchain powering Confidential Layer, enabling users to convert Bitcoin (BTC) and other major assets into private, Zano-based tokens directly within the Edge app.
This marks a major milestone in bringing practical financial privacy to pseudonymous networks such as Bitcoin, where every transaction is recorded publicly and vulnerable to analysis.
From Bitcoin to Private Bitcoin
Bitcoin was designed for transparency, not confidentiality. While pseudonymous, its open ledger makes it vulnerable to analysis and surveillance. Privacy has consistently ranked among the top user demands for blockchain networks — yet adoption has been slowed by complexity.
With this integration, Edge users can now bridge BTC onto the privacy-focused Zano blockchain, where it becomes BTCx — a 1:1 Zano-native representation of Bitcoin. BTCx maintains Bitcoin’s value and supply while gaining Zano’s privacy protections: every transaction is confidential, shielding amounts, senders, and recipients while remaining cryptographically verifiable.
In the future, the same mechanism will apply to additional assets such as ETH, enabling private equivalents of major cryptocurrencies.
How It Works in Edge
Swapping to BTCx is as seamless as any other trade:
- Open the Exchange scene in Edge.
- Select Bitcoin as the asset to trade.
- Choose BTCx as the asset to receive.
- Confirm the swap — Edge handles the rest.
Behind the scenes, Bridgeless provides decentralized, non-custodial infrastructure to bridge assets securely across chains, while Confidential Layer mints the Zano-based token representing the bridged asset. No third-party platforms, no loss of self-custody.
Why It Matters
The integration allows Edge users to:
- Convert Bitcoin into a fully private Zano-based token (BTCx).
- Maintain full self-custody of funds throughout the process.
- Shield transaction details from public view while retaining on-chain verifiability.
- Prepare for future support of additional assets like ETH.
Privacy is a fundamental right, not an advanced feature. Edge’s mission is to make powerful privacy tools simple and accessible — with Bridgeless and Confidential Layer, users can now turn pseudonymous assets like Bitcoin into private assets, all within a familiar wallet experience.
